About
Hi, I'm Sofía, but everyone calls me Piri.
I make every Amber & Me piece by hand, from my workshop in the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Every piece carries someone's story. Yours.
My first gold ring wasn't one I made. It was my grandfather's, given to my mum years before I was born. As a kid I was desperate to play with it, but she kept it close. She knew what it held. On my first trip away from home, she surprised me with a small box on Christmas, and there it was: my grandpa's ring. I don't think I've ever been given anything that meant more. That was the day I understood that jewellery isn't about the gold. It's about who it connects you to.
That feeling is the whole reason Amber & Me exists.
How I got here
I spent over ten years as a graphic designer before I found jewellery, and when I did, it felt like everything I loved finally came together. To me, jewellery is the art that holds all the other arts: I get to sculpt, draw, design and build, but in metal, in something you can wear for the rest of your life.
I learned to make it during a strange, quiet time, taught myself, bought the tools, and slowly built my own workshop at home.I'm a mum of two, and I need the ocean and the people I love close, even when they're far, to feel like myself. All of that ends up in what I make.
How I work
I design and make each piece to order, in solid gold or sterling silver. No plating, no shortcuts, made with recycled metals and meant to last a lifetime. Some pieces I carve in wax first, others I work straight in the metal, whatever the piece asks for. Slow, by hand, and personal.
What I believe
A piece of jewellery should mean something. It should connect you to a person, a moment, a part of yourself. That's what I care about, more than how it looks. The story is the point.
So whatever brought you here, I'm glad you came. Have a look around, and if something speaks to you, let it become part of your story.
